LUMEN VOICE TRANSITION

Lumen is Moving Away from Voice

Don’t Let a Contract Date Choose Your Next Provider

If your organization relies on Lumen Voice Complete, SIP trunking or other Lumen voice services, now is the time to plan. There is no single “Lumen replacement.” The right answer depends on what you need to preserve, what you are ready to modernize and how your environment is built.

Clarify360 compares replacement options across Pure IP / BCM One, MetTel, Granite, AireSpring and other providers, then builds the transition around your architecture, contracts, locations and timeline.

What Lumen Voice Change Means for Customers

What Lumen’s Voice Change Means for Existing Customers

Lumen says there is no immediate change to existing contracted service and that timing can vary by product, state, contract and regulatory obligations. That makes this a planning window, not a panic event.

The risk is waiting until a renewal, contract milestone or migration deadline leaves your team with too little time to evaluate the market properly. Voice migrations can touch phone numbers, toll-free services, concurrent call paths, E911, failover, analog devices, contact centers and legacy PBXs.

The smart move is to understand the environment before timing starts making the decisions for you.

You May Be Able to Keep More of Your Current Environment Than You Think

Keep what works

Your existing PBX, Microsoft Teams environment, contact center, Webex, Zoom or other collaboration platforms may not need to change just because the underlying carrier strategy is changing.

Replace what needs replacing

SIP, PSTN, PRI, toll-free and other voice services can often be moved independently of a full collaboration or communications platform replacement.

Modernize where it makes sense

If the Lumen transition creates an opportunity to consolidate platforms, reduce legacy infrastructure or move more voice services to the cloud, Clarify360 can model that path too.

There Is No One Lumen Voice Replacement

There is no one-size-fits-all replacement for Lumen Voice Complete. Different providers solve different parts of the problem well. A company using pooled Voice Complete call paths across many locations may need a different architecture than an organization running Microsoft Teams, a legacy PBX, PRI handoffs or a global SIP environment.

Clarify360 compares replacement providers against the environment you actually have instead of forcing your requirements into a single carrier’s answer.

What Clarify360 Compares

  • Voice Complete architecture and pooled/shared concurrent call paths
  • SIP trunking
  • Existing PBX and legacy equipment
  • PRI and TDM requirements
  • Microsoft Teams voice
  • Webex and Zoom connectivity
  • Contact center and BYOC requirement
  • E911
  • Analog and specialty lines
  • Failover and business continuity
  • Domestic and global PSTN coverage
  • Number porting
  • Implementation and migration support
  • Contract terms and total cost

Frequently Asked Questions About Lumen Voice Replacement

Is Lumen shutting down Voice Complete?

Lumen is moving toward the end of sale of its voice and communications services, but there is no immediate change to existing contracted service. Organizations should use this time to review their current environment and plan replacement options before contract or migration timing becomes urgent.

When will Lumen Voice Complete end?

Lumen has not announced one universal decommissioning date for Voice Complete. Timing can vary by product, state, contractual commitments and regulatory requirements. Customers should review their specific services and contract dates rather than assume one deadline applies to every account.

What can replace Lumen Voice Complete?

The right replacement depends on the customer’s architecture and requirements. Clarify360 can evaluate options including Pure IP / BCM One, MetTel, Granite and AireSpring, as well as other providers when needed. The comparison should account for SIP, PRI or TDM requirements, concurrent call paths, PBX support, toll-free, E911, failover, global coverage, number porting and migration support.

Can we keep our existing PBX when replacing Lumen Voice Complete?

In many environments, yes. Several replacement providers can support existing or legacy PBX environments through SIP, PRI or other connectivity options. Clarify360 evaluates whether the current PBX can remain in place and what needs to change underneath it.

Can we replace Lumen SIP trunking without replacing Teams, Webex or Zoom?

Often, yes. A carrier or PSTN change does not automatically require a collaboration platform migration. Clarify360 reviews the voice architecture first and identifies whether Microsoft Teams, Webex, Zoom or other platforms can remain in place while the underlying voice provider changes.

What should we inventory before a Lumen voice migration?

Start with locations, telephone numbers, DIDs, toll-free numbers, trunks, concurrent call paths, PBX platforms, E911 requirements, contact center connections, failover design, fax, paging, alarms and other analog or specialty lines. Contract terms and renewal dates should be included in the inventory as well.

When should we start planning a Lumen voice replacement?

Start before a renewal or contract milestone makes the project urgent. Multi-location environments, number porting, toll-free services, legacy equipment and global requirements can add complexity, so early assessment gives your team more time to compare providers and design the migration properly.
